MAVERICK – 2019 GRADE Black Draft Cross Gelding

Maverick is the perfect mountain horse package: 14.2 hh draft cross gelding, solid build with good bone, steady personality and extensive experience in the Canadian Rockies! He is a gem on the trail – point and go type of horse, having gone through rivers, muddy trails, up mountains and even swam in lakes. He is built for tough riding, and can handle technical trails without missing a beat, carefully picking his foot placement to ensure he and his rider are safe. Maverick is my go to trail horse as he is steady and will not quit on you, happy to work all day. No matter what the mountain trails have surprised him with, he has handled it all like the pro that he is, taking care of his rider. When it’s time to take a break, he patiently parks – no dancing, just patiently waiting until it’s time to work again.  He has a big stride and can walk out and cover ground, while having a smooth rocking-chair lope that is easy to ride. Maverick approaches obstacles challenges with confidence and bold curiosity.  Maverick has been used to check cattle, and is equally unfazed riding through a herd of playful calves. He is the same horse after time off, with no funny business, buck, bolt, or rear. He is an easy keeper, a gentlemen for the farrier, stands tied, hobble trained, been hauled extensively (including solo) and hops right in the trailer. Maverick has also had an intro to driving training and while he is not broke to drive as of yet, he would pick it up quickly if his next home pursues this. I recommend him for a confident rider as his big powerful stride may intimidate nervous riders. Minor scar on hind leg from superficial scratch injury when he was younger. Registered with American Quarter Horse Registry. Bez has been used as a ranch horse and has drug hundreds of calves to the fire. He is the horse my wife uses in the branding pen and when sorting pairs because he moves slow and is quiet.  He was also her go to when she was pregnant because she knew he’d take care of her. He stands 14.2 hands tall and I’m guessing is around 1200 lbs with an O size foot. He’s got lots of bone and is as straight as a string and very good to shoe. He’s finished in the heeling and breakaway roping and I have headed a handful of steers on him. He scores good and never gets hot in the box, has lots of rate and will run to a cow and get in the ground as hard as you want one too. My 9 and 7 year old kids have ridden him around and tracked the roping sled on him. He’s also packed out elk this last fall and does great with time off.  He’s looking for his forever home and would be a great fit for a high school kid looking for an all-around rope horse that can be used on the ranch as well. 15hh mare. Josie was started as a three year old and has been very consistently ridden since. She has been to the mountains 3 times a year EVERY year since she was 4 averaging 300km of mountain riding per summer. She’s crossed dozens of rivers and creeks, maneuvered bog and mud with ease, and climbed mountain tops many times. She stands perfect at the highline or hitching rail. Has been hot shod pretty much every year from snow off to snow on and stands well for farrier. Josie has been used in fun local gymkhanas and will do pretty much all the events easy and quiet. She’s been ridden to town for slurpies and down the highways. She has been used extensively on trails and through the bush. Josie has also been used for skijoring and thoroughly enjoyed it.  She has also had a lot of box work and been used on the heelomatic and on live cattle. She is currently doing well with me learning how to breakaway. With some finishing work she would make a great little high school rodeo horse for a confident knowledgeable teenager. I have hauled her to Canadian Cowboy Challenges where she tackled all the obstacles with curiosity and confidence. And placed top 3 in her category. Josie lives in a mixed herd of mares and geldings and everything from 28” minis to 17.2hh drafts. She sits mid herd. I bred her as a 7 year old (to a perlino stallion). She caught immediately and carried full term all while being ridden up to snow fall of that year. She foaled and cleaned on her own. Buckskin foal. I use Josie often to pony my young horses and she will pull into the breast collar and give me all she’s got. She drags logs, opens gates, side passes and has all her gates. I have used her on a couple of cattle drives. She did ok, but due to her competitive nature she got excited when other horses would race past her. However, if I needed to her to get after a cow, there was no hesitation. I can ride her out by herself. No issues. Not herd bound. Josie is easy to catch. Stands all day at the rail. No halter pull. She loves people and attention and is sweet around my kids on the ground. Josie isn’t marish when cycling. And can be easily ridden through her cycle.  Josie has been always kept up to date with her feet, deworming and teeth. She has 4 white socks and so requires an 8 week trim program to maintain her pink feet.  I have owned her pushing 10 years and she has NEVER been lame or had any injuries. She’s never had injections or needed a vet other than for regular dental work. No scars. Josie definitely requires a KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXPERIENCED rider ONLY. She is not for the faint of heart and requires a firm but fair handle. She is strong and very competitive and she can be spicy. She isn’t dirty but can have a very competitive attitude under saddle. I was never worried about him doing anything dumb when we were 10 miles in the back country by ourselves. He is one of those horses that you can leave in pasture for a half year and just jump on him bareback and ride him around. I only used him about 20 days out of the year. He stops good, he turns good. In a pack he is not the horse that always wants to be in front, he would rather be in the back. You can put shoes on him and trim him without any issues. GOOFY – 2014 GRADE Liver Chestnut Gelding

15.2 hands, 1250 lbs. head horse. Been hauled all over Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Arizona. Unique liver chestnut color. I’ve had him for 7 years and won multiple saddles and ropings on him. Breaks flat and hard! Strong at the horn and powerful. Quick footed and can run, too. Great move out of the corner and faces the way they should. Soft sided and light in the face. Stands still to mount and dismount. Easy to catch. Loads and hauls like a veteran horse should. Good for the farrier and grooming. Nice big black feet. Wears a size 1 shoe. Gets along well with other horses. Easy keeper. BIG motor but not hot. Perfect gentleman in the box. One of those horses that the more you rope on him the better he gets. LOVES the competition. He knows his job and he does it well. He gives you everything he has every time you nod your head. He will just about kill himself to get you there. I wouldn’t call him a beginner/kids horse but he’s by no means a bronc. He just has a lot of power and he’s built for it, too. Does have a slight scar on the shin of his left rear. Wasn’t there when we were in AZ the end of January but doesn’t seem to affect him. He does have a couple of the “scab/wart” looking blemishes on him but I’ve never had a horse that didn’t.
