ZENA – 2020 GRADE Grullo Crossbred Mare.

It just would not be right to start off our 2nd Annual Production Horse Sale with anything but the best! ZENA is our most tried and true mare of them all! Standing at 15.3 HH, we are sad to see her leaving the ranch. Zena has been a staple horse for us the past couple of years. She is safe, reliable, good-hearted, and has just an all-around fantastic personality. She is easy to shoe, load, and catch in the pasture. We have used Zena broadly in our outfitting camps in Northern Wyoming and she has seen the roughest of country Wyoming has to offer, but never even phased. We have used her for all variations of riders, as well as packed on her! She will go all day every day. The only transgression we have with Zena is that she does not always play nice the other horses in the pasture. Overtime, she will learn to get along with her new equine family, but we like to be as transparent as possible about every detail of these horses. Starting the weanlings off with a really sweet little bay roan filly out of our stud, MT Salty Blue. PL Dolly Blue was the first foal born in the 2024 foaling season so it’s only fair that she leads off the weanling part of the production sale. The mare was purchased from the famous Jeff Tift breeding program. We had the opportunity last fall to purchase Jeff’s breeding program to continue his legacy that he has built over his lifetime.  The filly is built to the Nines and has lot of good bone and foot as well as confirmation. CEDAR – 2024 GRADE Bay Roan ½ Draft Mare.

An incredible filly out of our draft stud Cactus and a Hairpin bred mare that is a granddaughter of Paddys Irish Whiskey. Hard for me to find the words on how to describe this filly. She is my favorite. Her dark bay roan color and white feathered front socks, if you love draft cross horses, how can you just not fall in love. But the most important thing is she is built correctly. We own lots of daughters out of her dam. She will probably mature around the 15.1 hh so the “perfect size” as we like to say… NOTE… Unfortunately, we had strangles run through all our horses this summer… and she ended up breaking out on the hind leg. I worked closely with our vet all summer. Her leg is still a tiny bit swollen, and she has made a full recovery, but the swelling is still noticeable today. She walks 100% sound. Doesn’t seem to be bothered by it.  I will scratch her from the sale if I do not feel confident in selling her and our vet will look at it one more time before the sale. TIMMY – 2018 GRADE Bay John Mule.

Timmy is the definition of a CADILLAC when it comes to mules, standing at 16.3hh he found his way to the top of our sale catalog pretty quickly. It is hard to find a young mule of his caliber that is as gentle and easy-going as Timmy. We have used him extensively in our outfitting camps for the past two seasons packing various sizes of loads including meat, equipment, and horns. Timmy has been a vital member of our outfitting team and a favorite across the board.  He is also very broke to ride, sometimes being used to lead strings through the tough Wyoming country. Timmy is easy to catch, shoe, and safe for all ages to be around.  When he is not in camp, he is great with the dogs and the kids, and if you ever needed to take the day off and have some fun, he has many experiences with obstacle courses. We hate to see Timmy leaving the ranch this winter and he really will be missed on the string, but he truly does check all the boxes. Cody is a ½ draft colt we raised out of our mare Jane. We sold him last fall, but his ride fell through, so we ended up buying him back and I’m glad we did. It’s been fun to watch him mature into the prospect he is today. Even though he might be on the plainer side as far as color goes, he is big boned, gentled, and going to make a heck of a tough mountain horse someday. Starter horse ALERT! Dallas is the kind of horse that gets heads turning. Standing at 16.1hh he is a very handsome red roan, draft cross that we have loved since day one! SHOW STOPPER . This filly almost didn’t make the sale… because I wanted to put her in my keeper pen. I already regret offering her for sale, but I think someone could add this fantastic filly to their program and go any direction with her. She is out of our stud, MT Salty Blue. Seven’s dam, Jet, is a mare that was bred by the famous Warren Johnson of Hell’s A-Roarin Outfitters out of Jardine, MT. If you say the word Jet around our house, you will hear 10 different positive things from different people about this mare. That is just how much we love her. PRINCE – 2021 GRADE Cherry Sorrel Draft Cross Gelding.

ROYALTY Coming! Prince fits his name standing at 15hh and is of the most attractive horses in the sale. His cherry color, flaxen mane and tail along with his 3 white socks, how can a person not fall in love! He is built correctly and will continue to fill out nicely. Prince is gentle enough for an experienced youth to ride and handy enough for any adult to get along with. He can really get out and move if needed or trail along in a string. Prince has been packed and ridden extensively in the mountains. He has packed horns and meat, as well as the odds and ends that need to go to and from camp. GEORGE – 2021 GRADE Belgian Chestnut Gelding.

MR. MISUNDERSTOOD! At first glance, George looks to be a big, stout, powerful gelding. While he is all those things, George is really just a gentle giant. Standing at 17.1 HH our Chestnut Belgian draft horse George is too good not to offer. We have not seen a young horse be as laid back and relaxed as him in a long time. HOLLY – 2020 GRADE Sorrel Draft Cross Mare.

Holly is a classy, big, blazed face sorrel mare we have to offer. Standing at 16 HH Holly has the size and the strength along with the correct foundation work started on her to be a great fit in any program. This past fall we used Holly in our outfitting camps as a pack horse and packed all kinds of loads on her, including meat and horns in the roughest of country that Wyoming has to offer. Holly has a solid 30 days of riding on her and will continue being ridden until the sale is over. She is not always easy to catch in a big pen, but when we separate her off, we have zero issues. Amazing All-Around Draft Cross gelding. Joe is a HUGE, extremely well broke and gentle gelding that would be suitable for any level of rider. He is 16 years old, stands over 16 hands tall, and is built like a tank. He is not super-fast but is very athletic, especially for his size. Joe had a solid ranching foundation and even spent some time as a pickup horse before becoming a 4-H and gaming horse for 2 teenage girls. The young ladies outgrew him and I was looking for the perfect step-up horse for my novice husband. We bought Joe 2 years ago shortly after moving to Oregon and buying a farm. Now, realizing how little time he would have for riding, my husband has made the tough decision to sell Joe to a good home that will actually use him. This horse is the kind every family is looking for. Any person that wants to have a safe, easy ride no matter the job, location or weather conditions, this is the horse for you. She has been used for Barrel Racing, Sorting Cattle, Team Penning, Trail Riding, Lessons, and Fun Day Events. She has the sweetest temperament and personality you could ask for; kids and adults alike adore her. She is for sale due to personal health problems that prevent me from riding. This horse has a lot of life in her and is way too nice to sit in a pen. I have made a tough decision to offer her to another family. I am working with my kids and their own horses; sadly, I need to let Inclinda go. Inclinda can be ridden by anybody; she will gauge her speed to whatever level the rider is comfortable with, beginner to advanced. I have put brand new riders on her, and they are comfortable to lope on her. She can be ridden in a snaffle, is light in the face and extremely willing to please. She knows all the leg queues and will slow her speed as you sit deeper in the saddle. Inclinda stands quietly and patient to be groomed and saddled. She absolutely loves attention (and treats). She stands for farrier and is up to date on farrier work (on a 5-week rotation). I have kept front shoes on. She is up to date on all vetting including teeth, shots along with fall boosters. Sassy was started under saddle as a 2 year old and used until her 3 year old year. JEN – 2017 GRADE Brown Molly Mule.

14.1hh. If you want the coolest, gentle, handiest broke mule, take a look at Jen! Sired by a black Jack and out of a Quarter Horse mare. She is well broke to ride and drive and has more rides than most quarter horses. She neck reins, side passes and is very soft in the bridle. Jen responds to leg pressure and is very easy to ride. She rides bareback and without a bridle if you so choose. Jen is quiet and does not get excited, rides very well between your legs. She has been used to coon hunt and we have taken her up in the mountains and she has seen all kinds of terrain and will absolutely go anywhere you point her. We have also taken Jen down the main highway into town and she does not mind any of the traffic. Jen rides very well in the arena and picks up both her leads. She has the smoothest walk, trot and one step lope you could possibly ask for. Jen always rides with a low head and does not fight the bit. She does not mind her ears being messed with. Jen also drives single or double. You can use her to go coon hunting or do ranch work and then hook her to the buggy and go to town for supplies or an afternoon stroll.
