Rockstar horses, consignors, buyers, and sale crew, Billings Livestock’s February 25-26-27 sale event set new records in Billings, Montana as 634 head were offered over the three days with a top sale horse hitting $100,000.

Congrats to Hip 310 “Metallic Quake” a 2016 AQHA Red Roan Stallion x Metallic Cat offered by Cooper Smith, Whitesboro, TX that hit the top sale price and tied the record at Billings Livestock.

Just call him fancy, he sold to and will stand with Steve Cockerum, Fruitland, ID.

Four stallions and a mare lead the top five selling positions with an average sale price of $65,200 and included two stallions by Metallic Cat, one by Shining Spark, one by Docs Sytlish Oak, and a fancy daughter of One Time Pepto.

Hip 252 “The Hustle” a 2019 AQHA Bay Stallion x Docs Stylish Oak offered by Dan Swaney, Moorcroft, WY earned reserve sale honors selling to Kyle Thompson, Sisseton, SD for $72,000.

Such a pretty girl, Hip 293 “Twistful Time” a 2017 sorrel Mare by One Time Pepto offered by Blake Kruger, Forest Lake MN brought $45,000 and sold to Richard Johnson, Laurel, MT.

Gypsy vanners continue their popularity as Hip 319 a four-year-old registered Gypsy Vanner Society gelding consigned by Ervin Miller, Hulett brought $40,000.

An incredible offering met with record demand as 117 head brought $10,000 plus, with 37 bumping over $20,000.

Something for everyone, opportunity could still be found as 64 head of catalog horses brought between $7,000 and $9,750.

America’s Number One loose market set new records all the way through as 272 head were offered as is, where is, how is with a top sale horse at $8,750, followed by $8,000, $7,800, $7,100, and $6,900 for a top five of $7,710.

52 loose horses brought $3,000 or better with 99 horses at $1700 or better.

Overall sale averages that hit the record books include – top 5 at $65,200; Top ten at $52,500; Top 20 brought $41,125; Top 50 at $28,670; and the top 100 averaged $20,918.
